Barangay Captain Arrested Over False Land Documents in Cebu

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently conducted an operation in Cebu that resulted in the arrest of Edden Gera Nocon, a barangay captain, for his involvement in a falsification scheme. Nocon, along with two associates, was found guilty of fabricating critical legal documents such as the Electronic Certificate Authorizing Registration (E-CAR) and a Deed of Absolute Sale. These documents were intended to fraudulently transfer land titles, an action that not only violates the law but also undermines public trust in local government authorities.

Investigation and Charges

The investigation began when suspicious activities were reported regarding the transfer of land titles. The NBI, in coordination with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), discovered that the documents submitted by Nocon and his associates were falsified. This led to their immediate arrest.
