Fake Malacañang Official Arrested in Nueva Vizcaya
Omar Moreno was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on September 1, 2024, in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, for pretending to be a deputy executive secretary from the Office of the President. During a convention, Moreno falsely claimed to have significant influence and connections within the government.
“Individuals involved in such activities often end up with a “Hit” Status on their NBI clearance due to their involvement in fraud or other illegal activities.“
The NBI’s undercover agents conducted an operation to catch him in the act, seizing a fake nameplate, driver’s license, and ID card as evidence. The Palace confirmed Moreno’s false claims, leading to charges of usurpation of authority. This incident was reported by Emmanuel Tupas of The Philippine Star.
